During the past year, I've reviewed several bible study guides and curriculum that would be appropriate for a men's bible study. This fall, my own men's study launched study of the New Testament book of James. This is a great book of the bible to study and it's also the first time we've used curriculum from the MacArthur Bible Studies published by Thomas Nelson. I can't tell you how thrilled we are with this product. So, thrilled in fact, that we're awarding this product as our "top pick" of Editor's Choice for bible study guides. This is a "meatier" guide than the Max Lucado series by the same publisher. (Sorry, Max - I still think you're the best!) There is a hefty section in each lesson that sets the context for the day's study. There is also a great word study section that appears alongside the scriptural text of the day. The discussion questions are equally as thought provoking and there is plenty of support material for each study. Trust me, you won't be able to finish a chapter in an hour and a half. Certainly, there are bible study guides with even more material (too much for my guys) but this seems to be "just right" - plenty of depth but something you can do in an hour, and without a degree in theology! I highly recommend this curriculum for mens bible study.
